News of another release from the mind of The Bongolian already? Certainly is! Earlier in the month, it was all about new Big Boss Man 45 Lambretta Boogaloo now it’s time to get the lowdown on the new Bongolian single. On his last LP, Harlem Hipshake, our man was all over late sixties Latin Boogaloo from NYC – now he’s headed east with Burning Man Of Calcutta. Maybe that should be ‘headed west’ though since this one’s got ‘Haight Ashbury, late sixties’ written all over it. Indeed the squalling sitar and organ-drenched funk is the musical embodiment of the Paisley pattern – an effect only intensified by the knowledge that it’s the lead single off a forthcoming LP to be called Indian Summer Of Love. And when you think about it, head far enough east and you start going west, right? Far out, man!
