What could make Basement Freaks a.k.a. George Fotiadis want to scream? The parlous state of the Greek economy? Possibly – but the cause is more likely to be delight as he is swarmed, Lynx-advert style, by semi-clad females in response to the Prince/ P-funk/ ghetto funk combo vibe of Makes Me Wanna Scream off his Something Freaky LP. Respectably remixed by the likes of Dancefloor Outlaws, DJ Wood and Blend Mishkin, the original is still the daddy.

JAL 120 Basement Freaks – Makes Me Wanna Scream by Basement Freaks
(PRESS RELEASE)
Basement Freaks return with a P-Funk influenced cut taken from their debut album, Something Freaky. With the Prince style vocals of the band’s lead singer, this funk number has the retro feel of the classics but delivers a modern sound that is blowing up in many current DJ sets.
First on the remix tip is the Dancefloor Outlaws. A collective of DJ / Producers who have remixed the Dub Pistols for Sunday Best and have releases on Ed Solo’s Disco Cakes and the Ghettofunk label. Next up is Canadian DJ Wood whose moombahton spin will definitely find a home in the DJ’s digital crate. Finally, Blend Mishkin’s take is a Dancehall inspired Ghettofunk riddim.
