The monkey wouldn’t normally ‘do’ Christmas until 1 December since the whole thing should be banned due to over-commercialisation until at least then. What’s a poor party-breakbeat, hip-hop duo to do though when all they seek is to spread a little free musical goodwill for the goodwill season but the first Friday of said season is a whole week into December? Well, I guess they release on the last Friday before 1 December (a mere three days before) which is exactly what they did with this, their Allergies Season EP. Cue two credited tracks featuring Ugly Duckling emcee Andy Cooper – the sleigh-bell-drenched Christmas dinner-themed opener Flavour and the pre-dinner party drinks-themed It’s That Time Of Year which also features Allergies/ Rayvelles chanteuse Marietta Smith. In addition, you get uptempo Christmas hip-hop bump Rudolph’s Revenge featuring a Rudolph on vocals who’s mic delivery is remarkably reminiscent of one Andy Cooper, albeit after a swift snifter of helium. And that just leaves breakneck instro party bump It’s Almost Here and soul-fied closer All I Want that sounds a lot like it features an uncredited Derobert of Derobert & The Half Truths.
