Whither next for Soul Flip Edits, now on an incredible Vol. 18? Well, tonight Matthew, it’s the turn of both The Pointer Sisters and Johnny Mathis to get flipped with the requisite edits coming from the label’s very Del Gazeebo (in the case of the former) and guest editor Wonderlove – back for the first time since Flip 006 – in the case of the latter. Del Gazeebo beefs up the Oakland ladies’ northern soul stomper with a vastly extended intro and outro, heavier drums and subtle FX to keep it current while preserving the original’s spirit. On the other side, it’s all about Wonderlove approaching Johnny Mathis in like manner with a bit of a tempo boost to boot. Job’s a good ‘un!
