Skank Honto returns to the Breakbeat Paradise label with the misleadingly-titled four-track EP Sneaky Funkin’ which is about as sneaky as a luminous ninja. No, this is in-your face party breaks that’ll energise dancefloors pretty much universally with it’s in-your-face collision of samples, squelchy synths, fat bass and of course big drum breaks. Afrika Bambaataa, Lords Of The Underground, Dizzy Dustin and Lupe Fiasco all go into the blender and while things initially head in a Clinton/ Bootsy mothership direction for the first half (How We Rock and F.U.N.K.), they head Latin-wards on Tropical Needs and finally to a G-funkier place on closer Kickin And Pushin. Job done!
