MADMADMAD: Spin Wave

Jeez – if MADMADMAD’s latest single Spin Wave had been released in the late 90s it would’ve been top five at least. Why? Because for this one the 70s/80s NYC dance-punk and disco-influenced Tottenham Trio seem to have plumped for pitting those influences against the chunkiness of big beat, ending up with a track that’s like the bastard offspring of Josh Wink, Mr Oizo and Death in Vegas. It’s got a fuzzed-up Bollywood guitar loop, a hypnotic drum break, a positively throbbing synth bassline and more FX than you can shake a stick at – all partying in the toilets at Big Beat Boutique and out of their box on lager and amyl nitrate.
