It’s edits city around these parts this January with news of all manner of cheeky versions, mash-ups and remixes coming in – and here’s news of yet another with the imminent arrival of Vol. 10 of the Battle Weapons 45 series. On one side, Dharma Collective’s edit of Silk’s 1979 Philly soul cut I Can’t Stop and on the flip Hallmighty’s Sorcerer’s Sympathy. The former is a tasteful flip of the original giving it a bit more chunk, among other things. The latter finds Massive Attack’s original breaks-n-synth-laden musical bedrock for Shara Nelson’s vocals replaced with something sampled from Norma Jean Wright’s Sorcerer. It shouldn’t work…but it does! Floors filled again. Especially on ladies’ night!
