Berlin collective Feed LA get their Schifrin on with new 45 Fast Cash – Up In Stratosphere b/w Back For The Future – a double-A-sider of jazz-funky grooves possessing a decidedly late-sixties/ early seventies feel. The aptly-named Fast Cash… is the uptempo cut opening with a jazzy trumpet vamp and unfurling into a brisk breakbeat-powered blaxploitation-esque number punctuated by skeletal keys. The flip meanwhile finds sax weaving in and out of moody Rhodes piano and bass – the stakeout music to the other side’s chase theme. Time to flip down the wraparound shades and sip an espresso while pretending not to take a close interest in your immediate surroundings from behind that newspaper you’re not really reading!
