Djar One returns with tribute to a Parisian subculture born in response to, and defiance of, WW2-era Vichy French oppression. Inspired by gangster Zoot suits and swing jazz, the Zazous stuck it to the man through – er – aggressive dance competitions and a clothing style that, for the men at least, had certain characteristics in common with – er – that of the later UK-based Teddy Boys. Anyway – the track is Rhythm & Swing and finds our man in storming electro swing mode. Any chance of a video featuring grainy black and white animation (with occasional bursts of colour) featuring Betty Boop and, more importantly, her homegirl Sally Swing? There is? Fantastic.
