REDMARTINA: Intransit (2013) + ‘Outside’ video

Redmartina is a new hip-hop/trip-hop project driven by the beats of a certain former producer of Philadelphia-based underground hip-hop outfit Jedi Mind Tricks. Stoupe (for it is he) a.k.a Stoupe The Enemy Of Mankind (or Kevin Baldwin to his mum) has basically masterminded the whole project, assembling Philadelphia Slick rapper Noesis, singer Hayley Cass and multi-instrumentalist Ish Quintero and then released the resulting thirteen track LP Intransit on his new label Bad Tape Music. Stoupe’s former outfit, Jedi Mind Tricks, are known for hard-hitting lyrics, beats littered with orchestral and latin samples and the odd bit of heavy metal horrorcore rap. Redmartina by contrast are shortly to be known for hard-hitting lyrics, beats littered with orchestral and latin samples and the odd bit of downtempo female-vocalist-fronted trip-hop. Production is rock solid, as you’d expect from the man who engineered Jedi Mind Trick’s Servants In Heaven, Kings In Hell but feelgood numbers like Potato Salad ensure you won’t feel like slitting your wrists by the end of it. Best cuts are the spy-funk influenced Dressed To Kill and late night groove Outside. Players and video to ‘Outside’ below…
