A top score for the Breakbeat Paradise label in dropping one of the most essential dancefloor hip-hop cuts of the year. Yes, it’s the All That Mess b/w Let’s Take It To The Booth 45 featuring Dusty Donuts crew member (and DMC world champion) DJ Robert Smith and Ugly Duckling alumnus/ Allergies emcee Andy Cooper. It’s been quite the summer for Mr Cooper what with Ugly Duckling cut I Won’t Let It Die currently soundtracking the ‘Bringing London Closer’ ad. campaign by Greater Anglia and now this. And by ‘this’ I mean two cuts on more than nodding terms with 90s hip-hop. All That Mess is full of jazzy Pete Rock-isms co-crafted by AC and Slim G, astride which Cooper lets rip with the brag raps while Smith lets rip on the cut. Flipside Let’s Take It To The Booth is co-produced with The Allergies’ DJ Moneyshot, equally funky and just as laudatory of the skills of all involved – with excellent reason.
