Electric Circus get a High Fever as they sail through the ether powered by a heady mix of jazz-funk, psychedelia and even afrobeat on the new single. It says here that the “groove…[was]…inspired by The Meters” though whoever wrote that was arguably tripping (appropriately enough) since to these ears a much larger debt is owed to the likes of Billy Cobham, John McLaughlin and the spacey funk of The Undisputed Truth. Any chance of a video? There is! Lots of 1970s split-screen-style action depicting individual band members grooving in the studio while a car goes round picking up said members as if they were mafia gangsters coming together for a turf war. Yep, that should do it. The track is the first single to be taken from the band’s second studio album Rites which is due 27 November this year.
