More gold from the Original Gravity stable (when isn’t it?) with the arrival of a new Regulators 45 – this one entitled Lucky Charm and featuring Donovan Kingjay. Essentially the Lucky riddim is a sixties rocksteady-style one but as any student of the music history will know, such riddims have regularly been re-purposed with the arrival of most new iterations of Jamaican music – starting with the work of U-Roy in the early seventies. Here Kingjay toasts and warbles most pleasingly over said riddim in a proto-dancehall stylee. Just in case you fancy whipping up your own blend, you’ll find The Regulators stepping out on their own with Lucky Version on the flip.
(Pre-order now/ ships on or around 26 April on Original Gravity Records)
