The Whirlwind D/ Djar One dream team is back with more 45 b-boy dancefloor action on new single On The Floor b/w Watcha Waitin For. Given the name of the former – a windmilling funky 114 bpm Hammond-led A-side beat – you might predict that our D had fashioned bars to celebrate the breakneck breakin that Djar One’s production will so clearly ensure. In the event, it turns out that while D is paying tribute it’s actually to the toys of his pre-skateboard/ bmx/ graff/ rapping era when it was all about Scalextric, Hot Wheels, Action Man – you know – pre-screen stuff. As anyone who’s ever had kids will tell you though, toys (especially die-cast metal wheeled toys) ‘left on the floor’ are at least as capable of prompting a flurry of movement as b-boy breaks and at least as deadly. If you’re an injured mature b-boy or girl or of the more cautious persuasion, perhaps consider B-side, Watcha Waitin For, a more sedate affair with an eighties-synth-funk inspired beat which ironically has a carpe diem message and features UK rap legend Blade!
