WACK 12: S.M.O.V. & Umbo/ S.M.O.V. & Suonho (2011)

Honestly – you wait ages for one and then two come at once – but that’s all that’s bus-like about Wack releases and this is no exception as Smoove follows the disco-themed Wack 11 with a tight jazz breaks/ ‘northern jazz’ type affair. Cumin Home sees Smoove’s alter ego S.M.O.V. assist rising Euro producer Umbo in providing a breakbeat rinsing to none other than ‘The Velvet Fog’, Mel Torme himself. And if you were ever in any doubt as to where the Spencer Davis group got the tune for I’m a Man check out Torme’s Comin Home Baby which Cumin Home samples. On the flip, that ever reliable source of acapellas, Nas, is S.M.O.V. and Suonho’s puppet sounding remarkably comfortable on the equally uptempo but percussively harder Thunderbirds-sampling NAS U.F.O.. Strictly limited on seven inch wax.
(Out 7 November on Wack Records)

S.M.O.V & Suonho – NAS UFO [Wack Ep12] by suonho

(PRESS RELEASE)
The Wack series continues and this time label boss S.M.O.V teams up with two superb producers to create this double wammy Wack 7” release.

Mario Lovakovic aka Umbo is an artist that is on the fast train to success. Hailing from Germany but now based in Croatia his blend of disco influenced funky breaks is being well received. Cumin Home is a fine example of his skills put back to back with some heavy S.M.O.V beats and slamming production.

On the flip we see Suonho alias Tommaso Berardocco Italian DJ/ Producer and all round Knob twiddler, flips a cosmic space 60’s theme tune into a pure breakbeat bomb with Nas on vocal duties and S.M.O.V on the beats this simply can’t fail to win!

Limited to 500×7” release
