You know when you see emcees from back in the day still trying to rep. it like they once did, despite the beer belly and it all seems a bit sad? Well it’s pleasing to see that no such fate has befallen Smif-N-Wessun’s General Steele. No, it has not for Steele pretty much – er – steals the limelight in a lean and mean feature in VVS Verbal’s new video Grind over a straight-up gutter boom-bap beat from Es-K. And while there may be a bit of grey in the goatee, it would be a foolish individual indeed who would tussle with such a veteran of the mic hustle – especially when said veteran is delivering hard earned wisdom about the ‘grind.’ The track features on Verbal’s latest LP Rebirth Of The Slickest (all tracks produced by Es-K) with Steele appearing on various other tracks along with such other guests as Sadat X and Ruste Juxx.
