VARIOUS: Lime Sorbet IV (Selected by QUINCY JOINTZ)(2014)

Lime Sorbet IV Quincy JointzSelectah Quincy Jointz is in the area once more with Volume 4 of his Lime Sorbet series covering all bases from nufunk to nujazz, chillout to breaks, funk to reggae and electro to – ahem – house. This one is seventeen tracks deep and in the days of physical-only releases it would have been worth paying for the whole thing just to get your hands on Andy Taylor‘s nufunk bomb-track Pray which features Louisa Rox. Louisa Rox? She certainly does. I remain surprised that this track did not feature on Andy’s debut El Pantano LP last year and as a measure of exactly how good it is, let’s just say I pestered the man really hard for a digital copy a few years ago and then forked out to get a dubplate of it pressed up.

Elsewhere all kinds of shit is going on but three other tracks stand out. Funky Destination knocks out a lively funky hip-hop number, Funky Music Overdose (Louie’s kitchen original), Tosses & Varvez offer a funky bit of glitch called Do U Want More Ah, and Jazz K.Lipa closes the whole thing with the Manina-featuring Music Is Mine And Yours which is tantamount to a breakbeat-base nineties soul track. Serve chilled.
