THE MILK: B-Roads (2011) + Byron bootleg & ’54-46′ free download

[RATING: 5]
“We got to stick to the B Roads” sing The Milk on soulful new single B-Roads making out like they aren’t travelling down the sliproad onto the motorway of mainstream recognition. The only way they could possibly be more conspicuous on their journey to the top would be if they were travelling on some sort of luminous ‘fame bus’ with a destination reading ‘The top.’ Currently being bummed by all and sundry (the NME, Zane Lowe, Huey Morgan), the band do actually have some pretty good reasons for all the attention – production from The Nextmen’s Brad Baloo, hooks that hark back to classic soul and ska and probably just general gratitude that they aren’t some ‘reality show’ shit. Check the single out below. Some might reflect that it sounds a bit like Jurassic 5’s Concrete Schoolyard…Also, feel free to cop the ‘Byron bootleg’ version (below as well) featuring UK rapper Byron Chadwick. The B-Roads & B-Sides EP on which the single features also includes a cover of Toots & The Maytals excellent 54-46 Was My Number – if you’re in a compare and contrast mood. You can download this for free via the link below too…
