[RATING: 5] It’s another massive single from Bristol kings of the funky breakbeat dancefloor, The Allergies, who put the moves on you (baby!) with new 45 – er – Move On Baby b/w Are You Ready featuring Andy Cooper and Marietta Smith. The first of these suggest the boys’ have taken careful note of previous successes at filtering their uptempo party breaks sound through a Latin prism and this one multiplies it by the power of ten. The result is a glorious peak-time heater that would have lesser outfits scrabbling around desperately for something to pair it with. If you know The Allergies though, you know that while it might say ‘B-side’ – it never is – as borne out once again by the all-cylinders-firing funky hip-hop of Are You Ready. And you better had be ready, with Andy C on the mic in full party mode, Marietta Smith going large on the soul hook and yet another peak-time beat – all big horns vying with scratching and organ riffage over a big-ass drum break.
