SOULBROTHA: The Connexion EP (2011)

Everyone knows if you want something done efficiently you get the Germans involved, so if it’s nineties boom-bap you want – who you gonna call? Cue producer tag team of B-Base and 12Fingerdan a.k.a Soulbrotha since a) it’s always nineteen-ninety-three round their place and b) they live in Hamburg. It also helps that they’re shit-hot producers and have access to some quality stateside emcees (Large Professor, The Freestyle Professors, Krumb Snatcha, Nutso, Edaye, NYGz and Blaq Poet) as well as legendary producer Premier – who also featured on their equally fat 2009 album Collector’s Item. If you’ve heard that then you can rest assured that The Connexion EP is business as usual. If you didn’t then it’s only necessary to clarify that ‘business as usual’ roughly translates (as the titles of tracks one and two would suggest) as ‘beats by the pound’ from ‘back in the day.’ ‘Vorsprung durch Technics!’

Soulbrotha – The Connexion EP “snippet” by Boogiedown Base

(PRESS RELEASE)
SOULBROTHA is back! After the successful album “Collector’s Item” now follows the “CONNEXION EP” which is again entirely produced by B-BASE and 12FINGER DAN from Hamburg/Germany.

In the tradition of the classic 90s Hip Hop, the tag team reloaded their SP1200s with soul and funk to do what they do best: no-frills boom bap filled with real lyrics and dope scratches! As we all know that this formula can’t be beaten and has its origin in the city that never sleeps, the SOULBROTHAS collaborated on this EP with some of their pals and also some of the Big Apple’s heavyweight hip-hop artists like DJ PREMIER, LARGE PRO, NUTSO, BLAQ POET, the NYGz, KRUMB SNATCHA and the FREESTYLE PROFESSORS.

As the culture has progressed more and more into an industry, SOULBROTHA still remains faithful to cutting up records and chopping beats – so clean up your stylus and let the groove crackle like roast from the pan.
