Son Of Sam – haven’t they come a long way eh? Haven’t they done well? They’ve gone from all those original hip-hop instrumentals that got shelved for a few years, to hooking up with a slew of emcees from the cream of the underground (old and new) who still practise the art of rhyme and then finally dropping album Cinder Hill last year and before you know it, it’s all been appearances on BBC Radio 6 with Nemone and Steve Lamacq and Radio 4 with Clive Anderson! Now of course, they’ve started thinking about a follow up – though past form suggests it might be a while coming. In the meantime, you could always look forward to getting your hands on the seven inch of LP track Come A Long Way featuring the legendary Masta Ace and Large Professor as the pair offer a life retrospective over Wurlitzer organ-powered boom-bap, later this year. As a Brucie bonus, the 45 features cover art by the ‘hip-hop Robert Crumb’, Dan Lish.
