For reasons best known to themselves, so many people in 1983 bought The Pointer Sisters’ track Automatic that the only thing that kept such an over-produced piece of drum machine-powered new wave pop from the UK number one spot was an over-produced piece of drum-machine-powered new wave pop called Relax by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Oooh – shoulder pads at dawn! Now decades later, Glasgow-based beat junkies Shaka Loves You (for reasons best known to themselves – but possibly to do with the original’s appearance on GTA: Vice City) resurrect this wedding-disco classic and get rid of most of the shit bits – well – the singing anyway, for a more 21st century club-friendly instro/ remix thingy.
