If you’ve caught any of Pecoe’s previous material, the news that he’s got a new EP out on BBP called Funk Anthems will be cause for celebration. Possibly not coincidentally, the material on this one is reminiscent of circa 2009 LP Break The Funk by label owner Badboe himself – to wit, party breakbeat tunes comprised of funky grooves and a plethora of vocal samples with wobble-free but nonetheless floor-shaking phat basslines. The first five cuts are Pecoe originals while four of these get remixed by Stabfinger Gramophone Soul, Funkin Bassterds and Kenny Beeper. Best original is the filthy wah-wah powered Back To The Beat while Funkin Bassterds’ version of Bounce With Me wins it for the remixes!
