[RATING: 5] As expected, Original Gravity Records follow-up April’s Reggae Dynamite Vol. 1 with the similarly splendid Reggae Dynamite Vol. 2. Like its predecessor, it consists of four tracks but there’s an extra vocal cut this time leaving the sides equally balanced with a vocal and instro apiece. The A-side consists of ‘Melbourne Douglas’s joyous Rudy Skankin’ On The Moon which weighs in at the slower end of the ska spectrum and is followed by ‘The Regulators’ boss reggae instro Caymanas Park Rocket. Another slice of early reggae is up next in the form of Rude Boy Don’t Fight with ‘Douglas’ now holding forth over a sister riddim to The Regulators’ Why Why Why off Vol.1 and the whole thing is wrapped up with the slowest cut – dubby second instro Joshua A Mek Riddim Run from King Deadly. As regular readers will know though, it’s really label boss and multi-instrumentalist Neil Anderson who a mek riddim run since near enough 99% of every release is him along with whichever session singer he’s nabbed to get the right feel – in this case to match the music’s organ-heavy spirit of ’69.
