MORLACK: Good To Go Go Vol. 2 (2013)

The decades-spanning DC go go scene is remarkable for two key reasons: it’s longevity and the fact that it’s localised around Washington DC. Since it’s largely unknown outside of DC it’s also prime sampling territory for the party breaks scene. If only there was a man who had a knowledge of the genre to rival Chuck Brown’s and the inclination to sample. Step forward Morlack who once again capitalises on (apparently) being the only person outside of DC who knows anything substantial about go-go (especially the 80s era) with Good To Go Go Vol. 2. Opener Nope 2 Dope injects a massive dose of anti-drugs anthem Go Go Drug Free, Doug E Fresh and Rare Essence comprise key elements of Wickedest Band Alive, while Hot Cold Sweat, EU Experience Unlimited and Slug Go all get sampled later (along with Nas and General Levy) and thoroughly bassed-up in the process.
