MEGATIVE: Have Mercy

MEGATIVE: Have MercyDid you catch Don Letts blasting Megative over the airwaves the other day? No? You’re missing out. The debut album hasn’t arrived yet but following previous singles More Time, Can’t Do Drugz (Like I Used To) and One Day…All This Will Be Gone, fourth single, Have Mercy has. On it the Brooklyn-based dub-meets-Two-Tone collective (which numbers amongst its members The Stills’ Tim Fletcher and dancehall legend Screechy Dan), takes things uptempo – well for them anyway – to a heady 90 bpm. Don’t make the mistake of equating more beats a minute for a lighter mood however. A keen ear for a pop hook they may have, but the vibe remains resolutely end-of-days with the band dropping doom-laden Spaghetti western guitars into the mix and Fletcher keen for redemption as a consequence of the human race’s less-than-stellar showing of late. Well anyone with a conscience would be wouldn’t they? No video or embeddable audio – as yet anyway but you can preview that latest business right HERE. The album is set to arrive in July.
