[RATING: 5] Matasuna Records deliver once again for Latin soul fans as they re-release another classic on vinyl 7″. In this case, that’ll be the smouldering El Ratón from Panamanian outfit Los Invasores, first released in 1967. It’s one of many covers of the Joe Cuba Sextet classic and also one of the best. Also, as they often do, the label have invited someone who knows what they’re doing to deliver a remix on the flip and this time it’s Panama Cardoon who used to regularly turn up on MB with his Latin remixes. In the event, it turns out he’d already remixed this one so there was nothing for it to do a new and improved remix for the 45 and the monkey is fairly sure no-one will be complaining about what he’s come up with.
