LONDON INTERNATIONAL SKA FESTIVAL: 24-27 March (2016)

2016 London International Ska FestivalIf you like ska, you’ll definitely need to be heading to the London International Ska Festival this March – 24th to the 27th to be precise, i.e. Easter Weekend. The festival has the widest possible interpretation of the concept of ska from its roots in rhythm & blues, calypso and mento, the original Jamaican rudeboys and the music’s subsequent development into rocksteady, reggae and dub even as successive waves of ska swept the world in the form of 2 Tone, ska-punk and beyond. Appearing this year are a multiplicity of acts including headlining legends URoy, Bob Andy, Carlton & The Shoes, David Rodigan, ska pioneer Stranger Cole and Freddie Notes. Also playing will be The Beat, Bad Manners, Pama International, The Skints, Don Letts, Hollie Cook, Tighten Up Crew, Sonic Boom Six among others. Expect more than fifty bands and djs, sound system clashes (obviously), a record shop and Thames cruises. Full info and tickets HERE.
