UK producer Kista comes correct and goes stateside for his rappers with his forthcoming EP the Pushin Buttons EP. The twelve tracker (six vocal cuts plus instro versions) features the talents of Maspyke’s Tableek on two tracks while The Vinyl Junkies’ Sumkid turns up on another pair – one of which also features Rob McKay. Expect the sort of heavyweight dusty soul, jazz, disco and funk sampling beats once beloved of the likes of Blackalicious – not least because opener, Stupid Mutha turns on a sample that also appeared on Blackalicious’ epic debut the Melodica EP. It’s uptempo second track Grandmaster Majere that pushes the biggest buttons though as Sumkid tears a new one for whoever is foolish enough to challenge his flows. N.b. The order of tracks one and two on the soundcloud player is the opposite of official tracklisting referenced above!
