FORT KNOX FIVE: 10 Years Of Fort Knox Five Remixed (2013) + ‘We Love To Bring Back The Funk’ free download

How’s this for a plan: you get fifteen of the finest bass n breaks producers to remix fifteen of your finest tracks from ten years of adventures in the world of party breaks production and assemble them in ascending order of bpm? This, ladies and gentlemen, is precisely what the mighty Fort Knox Five have lined up for release in ten days time on their own (what else?) Fort Knox Recordings label. But into whose sweaty palms did FK5 deliver their original material? The lineup is BIG and includes the likes of the following: A Skillz & Krafty Kuts (once together and a solo joint from each!), Badboe, Featurecast, Skeewiff, Kraak & Smaak, Deekline & Ed Solo, Ancient Astronauts, and Mo Horizons. You can expect, therefore, to be offered all colours of the breakbeat spectrum and then some. You want ragga breaks? See Featurecast. Bhangra breaks? Thomas Blondet & Second Sky. Electro funk? A Skillz & Krafty Kuts. Disco breaks? Rodney Hunter. Funky instrumental hip-hop? Ancient Astronauts. Ghetto funk? A Skillz again. House that’s funky? Kraak & Smaak. And that’s only the half of it. Of particular note are the jazzy latin breaks of Mo Horizons take on Blowing Up The Barrio and Badboe‘s nasty-funk big beat take on What Make Ya Dance?.

Of course the only trouble about inviting everyone else to play at your party is that it makes you want to have you go yourself and FK5 are no exception. As a result they’ve knocked up a remix of We Love To Bring Back The Funk which a somewhat housey affair, the snappy full title of which is We Love To Bring Back The Funk – Fort Knox Five vs Sneaky Sound System vs Klub Heads vs Justice vs CZR vs Alex Peace (DC’s Finest Remint). Cop it off the bottom player below:
(Out 19 November on Fort Knox Recordings)
