DISCO CAKES present JFB feat. Mr Dero: The Fizzy Bubla EP (2012)

Cold weather getting you down? Need a party? Man if that’s you and you’re the sort of person who likes great big farty ghetto funk bass you’ll shit your insides out with excitement when you hear this. The latest Disco Cakes EP proffers three massive party tunes from Brighton scratch deejay/producer JFB which party breaks connoisseurs will be only too happy to snatch up. Each is based around uptempo hip-hop breaks with funk/soul/hip-hop samples (Cantaloopoo is yet another outing for a certain Herbie Hancock number, for example) but significantly each is dominated by ridiculous wobbly bass. There’s no way on earth you could write about these tracks and not mention what has never more appropriately been called the ‘bottom end.’ Imagine, if you will, the sound which might ripple out of the arse of a constipated rhino which has just gorged on several tea chests full of Sennakot and is slowly forcing its bloated bulk through a catflap and you’re ball park – have a listen below and you’ll see what I mean. Comes with added Mr Dero on the second two tracks.
