DEL GAZEEBO: Art Surgery #1 (Vinyl 7″)

DEL GAZEEBO: Art Surgery #1 (Vinyl 7[RATING: 5] If you dig Del Gazeebo and Aldo Vanucci’s Soul Flip edits and it’s never soon enough till a new one comes out, you’re going to be stoked when you hear about Gazeebo’s new edit series of ‘Sonic Experiments’ on his Art Surgery imprint. The crossover between Soul Flip and Art Surgery is made clear with Volume #1’s Side A Barbara Don’t Love Me – a supercharged re-flip of Barbara & The Browns’ cover of the Willie Cobb cut, You Don’t Love Me that was later to be made even more famous as an early reggae cut by Dawn Penn. Flip it over though and you’re confronted with actual reggae in the form of a Pluto Shervington re-rub Dat which again makes all the requisite tweaks in all the right places whilst respecting its source material and signalling that Gazeebo’s not necessarily going to make himself beholden to any particular genre on the new project.
(Out 17 February on Art Surgery)
