IL COMPLESSO DI TADA: Il Complesso Di Tada (2016)

Il Complesso Di TadaYou might not realise it but what you’re in the mood for right now is an LP devoted to mid-1960s Italian TV show music. No, you are. You’re positively ripe for Il Complesso Di Tada a thirteen-track collection of (in no particular order) hammond-led instrumentals, sultry soul jazz, bubblegum garage rock, epic sixties ballads, bossa and boogaloo craziness. In many respects, it’s like someone is trying to out-Big Boss Man, Big Boss Man. And who knows what kind of carnage that will lead to.

This is the latest project of Calibro 35’s Massimo Martellotta and Il Complesson Di Tada is the house band of the Discovery Channel’s sixties-obsessed Tada! program. Highlights include organ-based mod-groovers like Veloce Non Troppo and Movimentato, lounge lizard material such as Sottofondo Morbido and jangly Byrds-meets bubblegum pop (Che Colpa Abbiamo Noi) though there’s also plenty of room for retro ‘Mr Loverman’ stuff and of course single and cover of Piero Umiliani’s Muppet-them Mah Nah Mah Nah. Altogether now – do, do, be do do…
