Ever seen a grown man cry? You’re about to. As far as I can make out this is a digital only release. I say ‘as far as I can make out’ because label ‘What The Funk haven’t exactly plugged their release with one of the founders of hip-hop. The only site I found for a label called ‘What The Funk’ made no mention of AB and you’d think with a legend like that on board they’d make a bit of a fuss. It’s Afrika Bambaataa and friends rapping on a party funk James Brown-sampling beat for god’s sake!! And with remixes by Afrika Islam, Charlie Funk and Smoove! Check the video for appropriate audio-visual accompaniment where, effectively, two tubby middle-aged men don the spangly p-funk excess of their youth, invite along the somewhat trimmer, younger King Kamonzi, and surround themselves with b-boys and very sexy women for five minutes of funk. It’s called aging disgracefully. Talking of disgraceful – where’s the twelve inch? Alright a ten inch then. Seven? Don’t make me beg…Video below and various players.
